Transcription turnaround times to suit you!

At mmg we can offer you a range of turnaround times to suit your budget and the urgency of your job.  Our turnaround times range from 5 days to our sameday and overnight service.

Sameday Transcription Service
The sameday service is particularly popular for clients who urgently require the recording to be in a written format and immediately available for situations such as court hearings, inquiries, witness interviews and dictation of letters.

We have produced sameday transcripts for two recent public inquries in Scotland, running consecutively for a period of 6 months.

For larger proceedings we would appreciate advance notification so that we can plan accordingly and allocate the appropriate number of transcribers.

1 hour or less recordings
For smaller jobs of up to 1 hour's recording time, we will endeavour to facilitate your requirements at short notice as we are often able to re-structure our work schedule accordingly, so please contact us should you require this service.

For jobs that we receive before 1pm we aim to deliver back to you sameday and for those received after 1pm and up to 5pm we will deliver next day.

If you have specific requirements and can notify us in advance then we are happy to negotiate terms to suit you.

How long does a recording take to transcribe?
Industry standards specify that an hour of audio takes approximately between 4 to 6 times to transcribe, based on a one person speaking audio (dictation) of good, clear quality.

For a one to one interview the ratio increases to between 6-8 times and for meetings, focus groups, court proceedings of 3 or more people, it could take the transcriber between 8-10 hours to transcribe an hour of recording.

For video recordings, this ratio increases again as the transcriber is taking more time to include gesticulations and movements.
